Akari (Yoshimi Kondou) is a new student who transfers to the same school as Takaki (Kenji Mizuhashi). The two quickly become close friends and gradually develop romantic feelings for one another. However, Akari is forced to leave Takaki when her parents relocate to another city for work. From that moment on, Takaki, who has loved Akari from the beginning, continues to search for a way for them to meet again, holding on to the promise they once made.
