Berlatar pada 1969 di New York, Indiana Jones yang sibuk dengan profesinya sebagai profesor arkeologi di salah satu Universitas di New York, harus kembali berpetualang bersama Helena dan Sallah. Ia mengetahui pemerintah AS sedang berusaha merekrut ilmuwan mantan Nazi untuk membantu mereka mengalahkan Uni Soviet dalam suatu misi besar. Jones yang merasa gelisah dan terus curiga dengan tim berisikan mantan Nazi itu pun mulai bertualang menyelidikinya. Ia yakin tim tersebut punya niat buruk terhadap AS.<\/span><\/p>

Film ini merupakan film kelima aktor legendaris Harrison Ford sejak ia berperan sebagai Indiana Jones dalam Raiders of the Lost Ark<\/em> (1981) karya sutradara Steven Spielberg dan George Lucas sebagai produser. Ford pernah memenangkan penghargaan Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Horror Films, Amerika Serikat pada 1982 sebagai Best Actor.
